of which「介詞+關係代名詞」, whereof, thereof, hereof 可在各語構互換的不同用法(relative conjunctions)與關係
of which, whereof, thereof, hereof 都有【其中部份】的意思。但是他們因為「語構功能」不同之故，用的地方都有所不同。
1. of which (用在【形容語 Definer】子句)
所 謂形容語(Definer)，就是形容noun的語構。舉例:
例: The British Museum is exhibiting the Dead Sea Scrolls (n.) of which some fragments are still lost.
(直譯: 大英博物館正在展覽死海古卷(n.)，【而其中的】一些殘片依舊遺失。)
因為of which some fragments are still lost是形容Dead Sea Scrolls(死海古卷)這個’noun’，這屬「形容語語構」，用of which是正確的。
2. whereof = of which 的formal 版 (用在【形容語 Definer】子句)
如果用在較正式的學術文件，of which 常被whereof取代。
例: The British Museum is exhibiting the Dead Sea Scrolls (n.) whereof some fragments are still lost.
(直譯: 大英博物館正在展覽死海古卷(n.)，【而其中的】一些殘片依舊遺失。)
of which可以以whereof互換；同理，in which可以以wherein互換; with which可以以wherewith互換。(但前題必須都是【形容語語構】的框架下。
3. whereof (用在名詞子句)
whereof 不僅會用在形容語構，也可以用在名詞語構，作為主句的一部份。
例: I understand whereof the Dead Sea Srolls lost their fragments.
(翻譯: 我明白死海古卷的組成部份，其殘片已經遺失。)
因為whereof the Dead Sea Srolls lost their fragments在主句中飾演【名詞】，而沒有任何形容/修飾功能。所以，可以用whereof，但不能用of which。

4. thereof (用在【狀語 Adverbial Modifier】子句)
例: The British Museum is exhibiting the Dead Sea Scrolls, thereof European Association of Archaeologists is the co-sponsor.
(直譯: 大英博物館正在展覽死海古卷，【而其中】歐洲考古協會是共同發起人。)
這裡的thereof不可用of which取代。因為thereof European Association of Archaeologists is the co-sponsor不是形容任何noun，所以不是形容語。而是修飾前面整句主句的意思(非單一noun)，所以屬【狀語】，故用thereof。
5. hereof (一般用作adv.)
thereof 意思為較遠的【在那其中】，herein當然就是「較近的」【在這其中】了。
例: The unconditional 30-day refund period is valid from the date hereof: 1st Nov., 2020.
(中譯: 從這日子起(2020年11月1日)，無條件30日退款期生效。)
hereof 在這句作adv.的功能。
