這裡的It 叫formal subject, 是一個不須翻譯的詞，只是格式上的需要。Formal Subject 有時會配會【真subject】句構上會變化，這個在AE版會詳講。

舉例：It is I. 中譯：是我。It 是不須翻譯。

ii) 如果呢句中係用mistake,咁個matter就要加s?是的。

如果你係相【講人生道理】，就會用現在式。如果你唔想說教，只是單純描述過去的事、原理，就用過去式。

在countable noun 中，如果想從一個，引申到該【種類（較general and abstract）】，就會加s。

如：你見到人在巴士上吃緊 一個 apple, 可以咁表達 It is not allowed to have 【apples】 on the bus.

Formal subject, 有些人稱dummy subject 【傀儡主語】，主要是it, 亦有人認為7號句中的there is 的there 也屬於。

但因為如果將there 都當formal subject 的話，後面的be 卻是顯然跟隨後的【真subject】,例：There are books 而非There is books。亦有看法認為there are books 的there 根本是inversion 的adv.

所以，我教Formal subject 時沒有將there 放進去，不過有人都會當there 是formal subject, 不過it 後的v 是agree with 前面it的，there 後的v 是agree with 後面的【真subject】。所以不少人當他們都當成formal subject，但處理就兩樣，容易混亂。

是的。不過不同老師有不同歸納法, 用的term 有時不一樣，如there，it 都歸納成dummy subject/ expletive subject。亦有看法there is 的there 是屬inversion 的adv., 也有看法當there is 整組是一個verb。

因為There 解釋甚多，我選並formal subject 這語法詞，沒有將there 放進去教，避免混亂。亦沒有用dummy/expletive subject 這些字眼。
